Four players form two partnerships: Player 1 and Player 3 form Team A, while Player 2 and Player 4 form Team B. Partners always sit directly opposite each other across the table.
Using two shuffled 52-card decks (104 cards total), the dealer distributes all cards clockwise. Each player holds a hand of 26 cards.
Step 2: Leading Tricks & Following Suit Rules
The player to the immediate right of the dealer leads any card from their hand to start Trick 1. Going clockwise, every subsequent player MUST play a card of the exact same suit if they hold one in their hand.
If all 4 players follow suit, the player who played the highest card of that suit wins the trick and leads the next trick. Card ranking from high to low is: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2.
Step 3: The First Void & Trump Revelation (Hukum / Katte)
When a player does NOT hold any card of the led suit (they are 'void' in that suit), they cannot follow suit. In Mindi, this triggers the Trump call!
In Hide Mode (Hukum), the trump card is secretly placed face down and revealed on the first void. In Katte Mode (Cut Mode), the voided player plays any card from their hand, and that card's suit instantly becomes the active Trump for the remainder of the 26 tricks.
Step 4: Strategic Dahla Hunting with Your Partner
Every 10-rank card (Dahla) captured in a won trick goes directly into your team's collective scoring pile. If your partner leads an Ace or King that opponents cannot beat, discard your Dahlas into your partner's trick to bank them safely.
